Alexander Gray Associates is pleased to co-host the 40th Anniversary Lesbian Herstory Archives Art Benefit with Johannes Vogt Gallery.
The Lesbian Herstory Archives, home to the largest and oldest collection of lesbian materials in the world, is dedicated to the preservation of lesbian history. The benefit brings together generations of lesbian artists to support an organization that has served as an important resource and community for lesbians over the last 40 years. The event will feature the works of 140 artists, including artists who participated in the efforts in the 1960s and 1970s to make lesbians more visible in culture and the arts.
During the benefit, Harmony Hammond's exhibition at Alexander Gray Associates will be on view. Hammond was a founding member of the Heresies collective, a feminist art publication from the 1970’s through the 1990’s. Heresies collective dedicated its 1977 issue to lesbian art and artists. She also published Lesbian Art in America.
