Regina Silveira (Porto Alegre, 1939) is one of the most influential figures in Latin American and international conceptual art. A pioneer in the exploration of new technologies for image reproduction and circulation, she has dedicated more than six decades to questioning and reconfiguring the conventions of perception and perspective. Filled with irony and conceptual deviations, her projects challenge the status quo and project alternative realities and possible futures.
The exhibition "Destructuras de poder ," which opens this Saturday at La Virreina and runs through March 30, will offer a tour of Silveira's extensive career, including a series of works created during the Brazilian civil-military dictatorship (1964–1985), a period marked by censorship and repression. This little-known part of his output is presented as a dialogue between past and present.
