The Joan Mitchell Center in New Orleans is celebrating a dual anniversary with a special exhibition featuring 40 artists who have been Artists-in-Residence at the Center over its 10-year history. The Joan Mitchell Foundation, created following the artist’s death in 1992 to aid and assist working artists through grant programs, residencies, and other activities, is also celebrating Ms. Mitchell’s centenary year throughout 2025.
Houston native Robert Pruitt is among the artists participating in the exhibition, titled History or Premonition, and will show alongside Firelei Báez, Yanira Collado, Demond Melancon, Carrie Moyer, Lisa Sigal, and others. History of Premonition will run August 1-30, 2025, and will be on display throughout the Joan Mitchell Center’s Studio Building, with artworks grouped by themes related to Ms. Mitchell’s life and creative practice.
