Regina Silveira To Install Vinyl Facade At Sesi Lab
Contemporary artist Regina Silveira will install a work at Brasilia art space Sesi Lab, where adhesive patterns resembling “stitched fabric” will shroud the facade of the space, located in a building designed by Oscar Niemeyer, reports Folha de S.Paulo.
Silveira has created similar stitched facades at the MASP in São Paulo, the Palácio das Artes in Belo Horizonte and Mexico’s Museo Amparo.
The work consists of more than 530 square meters of vinyl stickers “and a hundred-square-meter screen displaying her ‘Digit,’ the old lamp artwork from the 1980s, now in an ultra-technological incarnation.”
“Ultimately, she wants to remind us that before liquid crystals and voice-sensitive artificial intelligence, everything required physical contact, skin and flesh, between artist and material. In the same exhibition now in the federal capital, incidentally, the artist revisits a work from her analog era, previously made with light bulbs on Avenida São João in São Paulo, now on a large luminous digital panel,” states Folha de S.
